    The Main Road and Maple Lane complex at the center of town in Southold is home to several historic structures. There is also a Museum Shop and a Historical Society office with archives.

    Astronomy museum and observatory for stargazing through a refracting telescope. Programs, art exhibits, lectures.

    Horton Point Lighthouse and Nautical Museum

    The lighthouse was commissioned by President George Washington in 1790 and was built in 1856. The lighthouse tower is one of three on Long Island open to the public and is one of seven lighthouses in the Town of Southold. Displays at the museum include journals, harpoons, tools, paintings and drawings. The site is handicapped accessible.

    Indian Museum

    The museum's collection of relics and artifacts details Native American life on Long Island. Two spear heads on exhibit date back 100 centuries. The displays illustrate the evolution of Indian culture from prehistoric days, showing how they hunted, fished and farmed. Pottery, murals and jewelry are also on view.

    Triangle Park
    On the north side of Route 25 before entering downtown Southold.
    Grassy picnic area featuring the Southold War Memorial, commemorating World War II, Korea and Vietnam veterans.

    Emerson Park
    An unsupervised beach located at the end of South Harbor Road.

    Founder's Landing
    Located at the end of Hobart Road overlooking Southold Bay.
    Playground, picnic tables, restrooms, and a lifeguard supervised swimming area. Parking by permit only.

    Town Beach
    Located off Route 48
    Overlooks Long Island Sound. Patrolled by lifeguards and parking attendants. Roped-off swimming area, restrooms, picnic area, and playground. Parking by permit only.

    Goose Creek Beach
    Off North Bayview Road, along Southold Bay.
    Lifeguards and beach attendants present. Restrooms. Parking by permit only.

    McCabe's Beach
    Looks out on Long Island Sound off North Sea Road.
    Lifeguards and beach attendants. Parking by permit only.

    Kenny's Beach
    At the end of Kenny's Road.
    Restrooms. Parking by permit only.
